Ian Strickland

Athlete of the Month - March 2026

A little bit about Ian:

Ian started attending CS&F in February 2017. Before joining CS&F, he was playing soccer consistently and attending a big box gym inconsistently.

He is a father of three awesome boys (18, 17, and 12). Him and his very patient wife just celebrated 19 years of marital bliss this year. He has played soccer his whole life and still plays today. He loves all things live music and rarely turns down an adrenaline rush.... even if it runs him into a tree.

He also plays drums in a local band called Shakerag. They play once a month at NoFo Brew Co. Next show is March 28!

Favorite Workout:  Chief.

Least Favorite Workout:  Nancy.

Favorite Movement: Clean.

Least Favorite Movement: Handstand push-ups. He can't do them... but he is positive they are terrible.

Favorite Music to Workout To: Anything from Zeppelin to Tame Impala to OutKast... As long as the rhythm pushes him, he's all in.

Favorite Cheat Meal: Mexican (including the margaritas)

Goals when Joining CS&F: His goals were simple: get in better mental and physical shape - the former being more important. He has achieved both goals although the physical goal has fluctuated due to injuries... but he is mentally dialed in.

Special CS&F Memory: In 2019, a group did the Ragnar which is a 125.6 mile, 24-hour relay race. It forced him outside of his comfort zone, but he had a blast.

Advice to a New CS&F Member: Be consistent. Don't sweat the small details of any one movement or lift - those will come with time. Just show up, work within today's limits, and leave your ego at the door.
