Ken and Shannon Leonard

Athlete of the Month - June 2026

A little bit about Shannon and Ken:


They have been attending CS&F since April 2024. Dylan Easterling invited Ken to the 5:00 a.m. workout, and he's been hooked ever since.


They just celebrated 12 years of marriage and are originally from Florida. They have a daughter and son (Amelia - 6, Jacob - 4). 


Shannon works at their church and enjoys working out, thrifting, and reading in her spare time. Ken is a hospital pharmacist in the operating room (the most fun and interesting job you can have as a pharmacist in his opinion). His favorite hobby is gardening, although he has recently gotten into aquariums and fish keeping. 


Favorite Workout:  Ken - Cindy. Shannon - Anything with a box.


Least Favorite Workout:  Ken - Karen. Shannon - Murph.


Favorite Movement:  Ken - Deadlifts, Front Squats, Back Squats, and Bench Press. Shannon - Cleans.


Least Favorite Movement: Ken - Box Jumps or Snatches... Also wallballs. Shannon - Snatch.


Favorite Music to Workout To: Ken - 2000's pop punk from his high school days. Shannon - tie between Alexis's and Caitlyn's playlists. =)


Favorite Cheat Meal: Ken - Ice Cream and hot chocolate depending on the season. Shannon - Pound cake. 


Goals when Joining CS&F: Shannon's goal was to consistently show up 3x/wk and move. Ken wanted to improve his functional fitness and longevity by showing up and trusting the process. They both have achieved those goals!


Special CS&F Memory: Ken really enjoyed being a judge at the Thanksgiving Throwdown. Ever since, he has felt more connected to the CS&F community. Shannon loves the CS&F community and looks forward to increasing the frequency and intensity of her workouts. 


Advice to a New CS&F Member: Ken would say to keep showing up, trust the process, and enjoy the community. Shannon would say to leverage modifications to slowly build confidence.
